At Esrange Space Center near Kiruna, Keep®safe system helps protect personnel in the event of an explosion. The delivery formed part of the reconstruction following a major fire during a rocket engine test.

When a rocket broke free during a test firing, it caused extensive damage to the facility. Several buildings were damaged and two were completely destroyed. No one was injured.

Following the fire, work began to restore the facility’s sounding rocket launch capability. In autumn 2021, Keep the company received an enquiry about integrating Keep®safe system into the facility’s fire compartment boundaries. Units incorporating the system were delivered in February 2022 to protect personnel against future explosions.

The project demonstrates how Keep®safe system can also improve safety at facilities where risks arise from their own technical operations.
